We do encourage you to choose abilities and types that are fitting for your character! However, it definitely doesn't have to be a perfect match. If you apply a small child with no canon abilities with God of War and Dragon/Steel/Psychic triple typing, we will probably ask for a revision with your justification for your choice. We do reserve the right not to approve unreasonable abilities/typings, but as long as you have a good reason for what you pick, it's usually acceptable. We have a lot of characters without canon abilities who have been given explicit abilities, and a lot of characters who have been made into Shifters for one reason or another.

Occupations aren't something we regulate too strictly but again, try not to say that a high school student in canon with no leadership ability is the commander of the Swords of the Savior or anything like that.
