The canyons currently haven't been researched much, with most of the research knowledge being from the Old City and the areas around Union just recently being explored. Probably, if Cynthia has archaeologist (or Delver, in-setting) relatives, she's likely got a decent grasp on some of the Old City stuff, as well as some theories that may or may not be accurate.
