So, I had an idea that I rambled a little on Plurk about today regarding this character here.
This guy, Lock, is one of the villains from Princess Precure and your general magical girl henchman villain. His thing is locking away a person's dreams and using the resulting despair as a battery to fuel his monsters of the week called Zetsuborgs.
The idea I had for him here in Brave New World was to AU him as a Homunculus/Something Else and that rather than bonding with Pokemon, he'd use some kind of ability to item to transform them into Shadow Pokemon, giving them access to Shadow moves and the potential to enter Hyper/Reverse mode.
Basically, the idea would be to set Lock as a sort of Nega-Enlightened. Instead of bonding with Pokemon through friendship and understanding he changes them into Shadow versions through some undecided dark power. In addition, he could eventually Mega Evolve by letting his heart sink further into despair and darkness rather than a moment of personal growth or catharsis. His power would be used mainly on wild Pokemon though with a player's permission, perhaps he could steal control of a bonded Pokemon as well. Of course, such a thing would only ever be done with a player's permission and always plotted out ahead of time with the likely guarantee of their Pokemon returning to normal at the end of whatever plot.
Naturally, this ability would also come with disadvantages.
1. Shadow Pokemon don't level up until they're purified which would mean any Pokemon under Lock's control would gain no levels, forcing him to continuously capture stronger Pokemon.
2. Lock would never bond with a Pokemon. Any Pokemon on Lock's "team" would be subject to being purified (possibly by use of a Warp Band and a force of will strong enough to break Lock's influence or other means) and would, naturally, immediately leave Lock's service. Essentially putting Lock's entire team in a sort of temporary status until the good guys free them.
3. I'd go into this with the understanding that Lock will eventually lose one day and be ultimately defeated. Bad guys might get to win in the short term but they always eventually lose in the end, and he would be no different.
As for where Lock comes from and the source/nature of his powers, I'd be perfectly willing to see about working him into any plot elements or just kind of having him be a renegade result of some experiment or another.
Anyway, that's my pitch. It's a big idea so I'd totally understand if it's not doable but I thought I'd chuck it out there for consideration.
