The character I'm thinking about apping loses his entire clan to a mass genocide by a group of thieves. I understand that's a little heavy for a Pokemon game, so I wanted to know if there was any way I could parallel that more easily in a way that could be all right.

His clan was killed because their eyes are extremely valuable, so maybe he could be some kind of particularly rare shifter. Something like that? Or even if he was from a clan outside of Union and showed up because they were all killed by Pokemon or something.
