I'm thinking of apping this character, but I have a few questions.

In canon, he was left as the last of his people at an early age, in a very sudden and tragic way. For this AU, I'm not thinking of making him that special, but I still would like a less harsh version of that in his background. With that in mind, I was looking at the Mist place for where he came from, however I don't want to AU him as a Shifter.

Is that still possible, or is there a better option for this kind of situation?
