Elgyem does not live up to the stereotype of how aliens ought to act and can in fact carry on normal conversations. It has a rather cynical, apathetic personality. Around strangers, though, it takes advantage of the expectations directed at it and communicates only in beeps and boops until people leave it alone.
Scatterbug is naive and playful and spends most of its time trying to figure out what game it wants to play next. These games are largely incomprehensible to anyone else but seem to involve scattering confetti, cheering, and giving presents of leaves in random patterns. Just roll with it.
