Growlithe is a ridiculously loyal Pokemon, with a strong sense of duty towards Feliks. It's affectionate, friendly, and does basically whatever gets asked of it without question. Except for getting off the bed at night. It's idea of duty includes, apparently, keeping Feliks safe from nightmares. Which is probably endearing.
